Your cPanel account has a system for blocking 100's of spam emails arriving in your Inbox.
The system is called 'Box Trapper'.
Overview
When an email is sent to you from an email address that YOU have never sent an email to in the past, it is held in a queue. While this new email is waiting in the queue, another email is set to the person who sent the email asking them to click a link to confirm they are the actual sender. Although not 100% successful, it doesa very good job of stopping automatic spam systems.
Things to consider before you start using ‘Box Trapper’.
- You will have to keep an eye on the queue if you are expecting an email EG If you sign up for an on-line service that sends an automated email (you’ll have to manually authorise)
- You will have to pre-populate the Box Trapper with any good emails
- Some emails will initially not get through until the sender clicks the ‘I am a human’ link
- You’ll need to switch this on any accounts you send to and monitor all accounts regularly that you have it set up on
- You’ll need to set the delete from queue after ‘X’ days to a low figure (4 to 7) or your allocated storage will fill up very quickly and may result in emails not being delivered
To start using Box Trapper, login to your cPanel account and select the Box Trapper option under mail. Then click manage and follow the instructions.
Important: Please be careful using this system and make sure you monitor the Box Trapper queue regularly while the system is building up a 'White list' of your allowed email senders.
